Large-scale disaster response efforts often rely on external actors, which can lead to short-term impact and a lack of local ownership. One of the leading global humanitarian response organisations wanted to deepen their commitment to localization, ensuring that disaster-affected communities lead own recovery.
our approach
1.
Assess the current localization efforts and identify gaps in community participation
2.
Develop a localization roadmap, outlining how to integrate local leadership into operations.
3.
Facilitate departmental workshops to align organizational policies with localization best practices.
impact
Through this project, we believe that we will be able to:
– Increase community- led initiativeswithin their projects, ensuring that local knowledge shapes response efforts.
– Strengthen relationships with. local NGOs, leading to more sustainable, context-appropriate disaster interventions.
– Enhance internal policies to prioritize localization across all operational phases.
This is an ongoing project and we are excited about what this means for the future of humanitarian response.
